Nick Mayle is a 2001 graduate of East Canton High School in East Canton, OH. Growing up 10 minutes from the Pro Football Hall of Fame, made football a primary interest for Coach Mayle at a young age. Playing football through youth and high school was a passion. Upon graduating high school, Nick chose to forgo any pursuit of college athletics to enroll in the Physical Therapy program at Walsh University. However, the desire to still be a part of the game led to him changing his major to education and begin coaching at 18 years old. Coach Nick Mayle has coached at some level of football (youth through high school) for 23 years.

In 2006, Coach Mayle moved to Philippi, WV for a teaching position, and to build a home on his family's farm. Since then, Nick and his wife have raised 3 children, who are all involved in the Barbour County School system. Nick has coached his children's softball, baseball, basketball, and youth football teams in addition to his other coaching duties.

In 2021, Nick Mayle was named Head Coach at Philip Barbour following 4 years as the offensive coordinator. Mayle made it a priority to change the culture of the program and start a new tradition of building young men of character that would lead to success on the field. In 2023, the team had the most wins in school history (9-3) and won their first playoff game ever. The next year, the team hosted their first ever playoff game and finished the season 8-4. Then in 2025, Coach Mayle led the team to a 10-3 record, hosting the first two rounds of the playoffs before falling short in the state semi-final game.
